What is Emsella?

How it works

Emsella uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to stimulate deep pelvic floor muscles and restore neuromuscular control. Is it painful?

There is typically no pain associated with Emsella treatment, and there is no anaesthetic required. You may experience gradual tingling and muscle contractions. Will Emsella work for me?

BTL Emsella can improve the symptoms of stress incontinence caused by childbirth or menopause, and other intimate health conditions, including vaginal looseness and difficulty reaching orgasm.

However, if you're pregnant, have a pacemaker or metal plates in your body, such as hip replacements, or have a copper coil or IUD, then Emsella is not suitable for you. In this case, we can help give you the information you need to choose a different treatment. Patients who are menstruating should also not undergo treatment until their period ends.

What happens during an appointment?

All you need to do is sit on a chair! For about 30 minutes, while fully clothed, you sit on the Emsella chair as it stimulates muscle contractions. When you’re sitting in the chair, you can simply watch TV, read or relax. That's it!

How to prepare for your appointment

Dress comfortably, with light clothes on the days of treatment, so that your legs can be spread open with your back straight. This will allow the pelvis to tilt correctly. Do not wear heavy sweats or jeans. Avoid bottoms with zippers.
Remove any metal items, such as jewellery and coins. You will not be allowed to bring in electronic devices with you because the electromagnetic energy will interfere with the chair. You may bring a magazine or book to read during the treatment.

How many sessions do I need?

The recommended number of treatments is 6. The treatment time is 30 minutes per session on the chair. Sessions are separated by at least 2 days, depending on your needs. Completing a full treatment plan is necessary to maximize treatment efficacy. You may need additional treatments depending on the severity of your condition.
